Our Sessions

What to Expect

Each session includes a consultation and treatment.

The consultation time varies, depending on the complexity of your situation, and enables us to specifically address how you are feeling in the moment.

I will explain my diagnosis and give you my recommendations for treatment; we will then come to an agreement for your treatment plan before we begin.

Aches and pains, diseases and their symptoms, can change over time in response to treatments and other factors - so every session will be unique.

How Much Time to Allow

The initial session usually lasts 90 minutes. The follow-up sessions last 60 minutes. The deep-healing sessions last 90 minutes.

We can arrange intensive sessions of 3 to 4 hours for those traveling from a long distance. Such sessions require prior consultation with Dr. Ryan.

Not Hungry, Not Full

It's important not to be too hungry or too full for acupuncture treatments because the treatment works better.

Please plan to eat something before your session so you don’t have an empty stomach. If you can, finish eating at least a half-hour beforehand so you don’t have a full stomach. If you are hungry, have a snack prior to our appointment.

Please avoid excessive stimulants like sugar, chocolate, coffee or other caffeinated beverages before your appointment.

What to Wear

COMFORTABLE clothing during session:

Please wear or bring loose fitting, comfortable clothing for your session. While gowns are available, you can wear your own clothes for the session as long as needle sites are accessible.

WARM CLOTHES to wear after your session:

Your body temperature and how it interacts with the environment will change immediately after the session so it is important that you have enough clothing to keep you warm even on a seemingly warm day or if you will be exposed to air conditioning.

Allow Yourself Time

We live in a busy world - but healing can take time. It is important to not feel rushed before and after your session; we recommend that you allow yourself some extra time to absorb the treatment.

Sessions are often deeply relaxing - so you may not want to rush off to work or other commitments. Allow yourself some time to smell the flowers.
