Experience and Training
Dr. Paul Francis Ryan, DACM, L.A.C
Dr. Paul Francis Ryan is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist practicing in New York City. His clinical work is informed by more than 20 years of training and practice in both China and the United States, with an emphasis on careful diagnosis, individualized treatment, and sustainable, non-invasive care.
Dr. Ryan began his formal training in nutritional science at the University of Vermont before pursuing advanced study in acupuncture, manual therapy, and Chinese medicine. He completed graduate training at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and later earned a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science. His education included clinical internships at major teaching hospitals in Beijing.
From 2010 to 2012, Dr. Ryan worked as an acupuncture specialist at the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Guangzhou, China. Practicing within a large, hospital-based TCM system, he gained extensive experience treating a wide range of conditions in a high-volume clinical environment.
During nearly two decades living and training in China, Dr. Ryan studied closely with senior clinicians and lineage holders, including founders of Abdominal Acupuncture and Zuo Acupuncture. Through apprenticeship-based training, he developed advanced clinical skills in these methods, which continue to inform his approach to patient care.
In his current practice, Dr. Ryan integrates acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, osteopathy-informed manual therapy, nutritional guidance, and meditation into a coherent treatment approach tailored to each patient. In addition to clinical work, he teaches internationally and serves as faculty at Pacific College of Health and Science, where he continues to engage in professional education and mentorship.
